Time Passing by All the Time

Are your steps leading you in the right direction?
In the immortal words of Pink Floyd, most of us are just "ticking away the moments that make up a dull day... waiting for someone or something to show you the way."   Like the title of the song these lyrics appear in, the subject of time is something that is relevant to every living creature and thus something we must always be conscious of.

Your inner sage is calling out for you to realize that time is a precious gift and true worth is measured in how you utilize that  time.  It is the most valuable resource you have.  And while there are numerous methods...
on how you can best "manage" this time or "budget" this time or "spend" this time (things like calendars, organizers and to-do lists can be incredibly helpful tools,) before you try to start controlling what you do with your time, you must be conscious of what time is and where it all goes.

The musical RENT so aptly reminds us that we have only 525,600 minutes in a year.  If you subtract out necessary functions like sleeping and eating, that number drops significantly.  Kinda puts it in perspective, huh?

Think of each minute that goes by like a tiny footprint in the sand.  Are they leading you towards an exciting destination, or are they just going around in circles?  Worse yet, do they get washed away by the rising tide, forcing you to retrace the same steps over and over again?

From now on make a conscious effort to think about the actions you take in a day, and look at it through the prism of time.  Consider if the things you are doing, in any given moment, are using minutes in a way that you feel are appropriate... minutes that are leading you down the right path... minutes that have a purpose.  Minutes that have meaning.  Minutes that have an impact.

Life is not just a serious of events where we prepare ourselves for what is about to come next.  Life is about making the most of your time and creating your own destiny.  Each minute that passes is a minute gone forever.  Use them wisely.

So, what will you do with your time from now on?
