Celebrate your Efforts and Appreciate How Far You've Come

Throughout the hustle and bustle of your daily life, take time to pause and smile.
The desire to have more in this life... to be bigger, stronger, faster... can be a powerful motivator.  And as we look for the knowledge and experience and sage wisdom to guide us to greatness, we begin to realize that the power to achieve our goals -- to rebuild and create a better future -- not only comes from within, but that it is a worthy and noble pursuit.

One must always be learning, growing, developing; and there is nothing wrong with wanting to achieve more tomorrow than you have today.

But while your sights are often set on the future, and you patiently and diligently take step after step after step towards achieving your future goals and objectives, don't forget to take stock in the here and now.

Celebrate the progress you're making.  Recognize that the path you follow may turn at any point, either by your choice or by outside forces, and you'll never be at this moment in time again.  Appreciate how hard you've worked to get here, and while the efforts must continue, you can feel pride in the accomplishments thus far.

Living a life of personal accountability means not only being responsible to others, but more importantly to yourself.  Others may be thankful for what you do for them or with them, but YOU need to recognize how those contributions and moments of kindness do make a difference.  Feel good about that.  You are making a difference to this world no matter how big or how small.

If making daily affirmations help you realize your personal value, then by all means use them, but appreciating your progress does not need to be another item on the to-do list.  Rather this is simply a reminder that your achievements are valuable and should be treated as such -- with value.  Respect what you've done; respect how you've done it.

Peter Drucker famously stated "what gets measured, gets done."

Your inner sage will tell you that what gets measured shows evidence of the progress you've made; what gets measured can be evaluated, can be appreciated, can be celebrated.

So throughout the hustle and bustle of your daily life, take time to pause and smile and know you're headed down the right path.

Celebrate your efforts and appreciate how far you've come.
