Time is on Your Side

Are you fighting time, or embracing it?
Time.  The thing mankind has tried to take control of, tried to manage, tried to travel through and tried to stop, for all of eternity.  Time is the one thing everyone in this world has, and the one thing most feel there's not enough of it.  No matter what you do, no matter what you say, no matter where you go, no matter how you face it, time is always there.  Time is always there doing the thing it does best... moving forward.

So how does a Self-Made Sage embrace time?   Well, you can try to resist it, or you can embrace and go along with it.  Here's how...

You must leverage the fact that it moves at a constant pace and that, although you may stop moving, time never does.  Tick by tick, tock by tock, time is constant.  Time just keeps moving right along.  It doesn't care if you're rich or poor, it doesn't care if you're black or white, it doesn't care... well, you get the point, it doesn't care about you at all.

Embrace the fact that taking little steps, over time, will eventually get you to your destination.  Understand that if you take twice as many steps as you did the day before, you reach your goal in half the time; and on the same notion, if you take half as many steps as you did the day before, it will take you twice as long to reach your goal.   Either way, by taking action and acknowledging that time is on your side, you end up accomplishing your objective.

Too many people start a project and give up on it without giving it enough time.  This is because they get too focused on reaching a certain feat within a randomly selected time frame.  They set arbitrary deadlines, or underestimate the amount of effort it will take, or overestimate their abilities.  Don't be that type of person.

Goals and deadlines are fine... heck, it's good thing to have milestones for long-term projects... but don't get so fixated on an arbitrary deadline and lose sight of your overall objective.

Act like time... select action(s) that you will do on a constant basis... persistent, at regular intervals, day-after-day until you accomplish your task.

Establish a steady rhythm, just like time... you don't pause or delay.

Perfect something and share it with the world... just like time.

Put your trust in having time on your side and knowing that small actions over time lead to big results.  The higher and bigger your goals are, the longer they may take to achieve, but have no worries, time will get you there.
